Carmel Real Estate News
INDOT and the city of Carmel are very seriously considering making US-31 or Meridian a freeway from I-465 in Carmel to Westfield. An open house last week drew almost 200 attendees to the meeting to hear the proposal and comment on the project. As to be expected, there were opponents and proponents of the project.
The opponents point to cost and lost acreage of woods that currently buffer the highway from neighborhoods. Proponents of the project say the cost and aggravation of the construction will be worth it.
This project is far from a reality but the main idea behind it is to create a freeway with little or no traffic signals from Carmel to Westfield. Another idea that is being kicked around is installing an exit ramp from I-465 directly to Pennsylvania Street to accommodate much of the businesses in the area.
I have not seen a proposed cost, but on the face of it I am all for it. US-31 is a major artery for Hamilton County and if it could be opened up into a traffic signal free road this would be great news for both Carmel real estate and Westfield real estate. Traffic and commute times are always a concern when trying to decide where to live. Allowing Carmel, Westfield and even Noblesville residents easier access to the interstate and downtown makes Hamilton County an even easier choice for people looking to relocate.
What do think? Is this major worth it?

Opponents to proposals like this are in every city. Growth in many places is inevitable and congestion like you currently have just frustrates people and hurts more than it helps. We have the same problems in Austin. The only way we have managed to speed up traffic is with toll roads.

that idea is good!whether this may need a long budget, it's still a great solution to lessen traffic.
