Indianapolis Leaf Collection

Although the majority of my leaves have already fallen, the Indianapolis Department of Public Works has started its annual leaf collection.  Starting Monday, November 05 through Friday November 30^th you can put up to 40 bags to be collected each week.  I really feel sorry you if you are putting 40 bags out a week.  You can still only put up to 10 bags of regular household trash out to be collected.  In order to keep things efficient the DPW asks residents to do the following:

            - Place leaves in plastic or paper bags

            - Have leaves out by 7am

            - Clearly identify the bags of leaves from regular trash.  Either put them 3 feet away from regular trash or put them in a different colored trash bag.

 

The DPW composts the leaves after they collect them and make the compost available to the public free of charge.  You can get the free compost at the Southside Landfill, 317-247-6808.
