Fishers Real Estate News

Fishers and Noblesville residents who work downtown could have another viable option to the daily grind of commuting along I-69 towards downtown.  The Indianapolis Regional Transit Council is looking very seriously at utilizing existing railways to provide new mass transit options for residents of Hamilton County.  The rapid transit line would run from Noblesville and Fishers to downtown Indianapolis during rush hour in the morning and evening and would coordinate with IndyGo buses to pick up commuters.  This announcement is big because if this is completed in the timeframe they are talking about, 2-4 years; this is 6-8 years ahead of schedule.

The complete original rail project was projected to cost $690 million dollars and be completed by 2035; the new project will be completed sooner and will ostensibly be cheaper.  The numbers, details, and estimates are still in the works but details should firm up over the next few months.

With gas prices hitting almost $4.00 a gallon here, people will be looking for alternatives to driving their cars everyday.  While the $690 million price tag seems quite high to me, I am all for a more streamlined system that could provide relieve to drivers and get more cars of the highways.  I think it is great they are acting now to get this done, Fishers and Noblesville real estate are among the most popular in the area and the population of Hamilton County continues to grow.  Along with this growth comes more cars and more congestion.  As it continues to grow, mass transit from Hamilton County to downtown Indianapolis is a must.  It will be interesting to see what the price tag will be for this new project, but it is clear that something must be done and I think with current gas prices a whole new demographic will be willing to ride mass transit.
