Corner Wine Bar - Broadripple Restaurant Review

Restaurant Reviews

This is the first of what will probably be many Indianapolis restaurant reviews.  I have come up with a ranking system.  From the best to worst here it is:

Worth every penny

Solid Performer

Worth another shot

Average at best

Total waste of money

Maybe I was in bad mood that night, maybe I caught them on an off day but the food and service at the Corner Wine Bar were both terrible.  I arrived at about 7:45 on a Sunday night and we sat outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and watch people go by.  We order three drinks which turned out to be the best thing on the menu after that, things went downhill.

The first dish we tried was a pasta dish with grilled shrimp…sounds pretty easy right?  For some reason they thought it would be a good idea to put a ton of cinnamon in the pasta.  Cinnamon, in pasta, really?  Well it turns out that is not such a good idea.  Huge thumbs down for that dish.  Next up was another pasta dish, crab stuffed ravioli with a butter cream sauce.  This was better than the cinnamon pasta but that is not saying much.  The ravioli actually tasted OK, but the sauce had little to no flavor.  The third dish we tried was a pork medallion; this was the best of the three but it was very dry.

After we choked down our food we sat on the patio and talked for a little bit.  They close at 9:00 on Sunday; at 9:05 they started stacking the chairs and getting ready to go home.  We felt very unwelcome.  I did say something to the manager and the response I got was basically “gee, sorry”.

Overall this was very bad experience; I was very disappointed because I had heard good things about this restaurant.  I might give it another try, but it will be a very long time.  I give this one a total waste of money.
