A word to the wise…avoid buying Carmel real estate located directly on 146th street. The mayor of Carmel is looking expand 146th street from Spring Mill to the Boone County line to a four lane road. The goal is to create a major east-west road that eventually goes from I-69 all the way to Boone County. While overall it is great news to create more accessibility to Fishers and Zionsville from Carmel, homes located on 146th could suffer. I am not saying avoid all neighborhoods along 146th; just don’t buy a home located directly behind it. This proposal may not go through yet, but sooner or later 146th will be expanded as it is already a major corridor on the north side. So if I were looking to buy Carmel homes and I found one I loved but it backed up to 146th street I would either have to get a killer deal on it or I would keep looking.
