I just got back, actually I am writing this from a ferry ride heading back to Vancouver, from a real estate conference in British Columbia. It was not your traditional real estate conference; rather it was put on by the people who host my website and was a gathering of some of THE most web savvy agents from around North America. I was able to meet some amazingly knowledgeable agents and brokers, forged several great relationships, and shared ideas with some of the most knowledgeable agents in North America.
As good as I might like to think I am at real estate, websites, internet marketing etc. I was truly humbled this week by the agents I met. Being able to bump elbows with these bright minds and pick the brains of people with many more years of experience than I made the trip well worth it. A few people in particular I would like to thank:
Dave Abernathy – This guy is an absolute guru. He runs his Waterfront Property website along with what seemed like 5,000 other projects and was an abyss of knowledge. Thanks Dave for talking with me and letting me pick your immense brain.
Jim Sparrow - Jim runs his Calgary Real Estate website and was also a great source of knowledge in addition to being an all around good guy.
Jon Karlen – John works with his wife down in the Louisville and Lexington Kentucky area and specializes in Kentucky Horse Farms. He has commented on my blog before and goes by the moniker Malok. John is a great guy and knows his market inside and out. If I ever encounter anyone looking for homes in Louisville or Lexington, I am definitely sending them his way.
Eric Blackwell - What to say about Eric Blackwell? I have known Eric for some time now and he has become a friend of mine. Eric is the technologist for the largest Remax office in Louisville and in addition to the many other projects he has going at any given point he runs his Southern Indiana SEO blog.
Even though we bump into each other on line, chat on the phone, and exchange emails I have never had the opportunity to actually meet him face to face. It is kind of ironic we live one and half hours from each other yet we had to travel across North America to actually meet. Eric is a great guy and amazing source of inspiration.
I know I am forgetting some people and unfortunatley I didn't have time to talk with all the great people at the conference.
In addition to the great people I was able to meet and the stellar content in the conference itself, Morgan Carey from Real Estate Webmasters held a raffle for a custom website and I won!!!!! I am sooooo stoked about this. This is what will amount to a $10,000 website. At this point, I am unsure weather I will utilize this new site on the current Red Door Real Estate site or if I will just keep this one and use this new killer site as a second site.
Thanks again to all and I am already looking forward to next year.

Well you prove that there is always so much to learn in any field and one cannot say that he is a complete expert.
Interesting post. I hope your site gets live and kicking.

That sounds like a wonderful experience. It's always amazing to learn from people who are way more advanced in web marketing and promotion than you are. It's exciting because you realize there are still so many new things to try and so many doors still to open! Congrats on winning, by the way -- a custom website is so expensive, that will be wonderful to have it done for free by an expert!
