I will leaving for vacation tonight and will be gone for 1 full week.  My wife and I and some friends are going down to Acapulco Mexico to use a timeshare we have and have yet to use.  Supposedly my cell phone is going to work there and I will be checking my email at least once a day.  I will be back late next Friday.  Adios.

Restaurant Review - Yat's by Mike Taylor

Yat’s, aah Yat’s.  What a delightful change in pace this restaurant is.  This ranks as one of my favorites in the city.  Yat’s is a New Orleans themed restaurant that has a constantly changing menu posted on a chalkboard.  All of the menu items are $5.50 and a ½ and ½ will run you $6.50.  I always get the ½ and ½ because it is so hard to choose just one thing.  My favorite item on the menu is hands down the white chicken chili.  They have all the New Orleans standards such as Jambalaya, Gumbo, etc., but they also offer many items you may not have heard of before.   No matter what you get, the food is always delicious and the service is excellent.

Yat’s now has three locations around Indy; one is Broadripple, Downtown, and the...

Indianapolis Condos - Renaissance Bay by Mike Taylor

I recently visited the new Indianapolis condo project off of Keystone Avenue, Renaissance Bay and talked to the sales person about this exciting project.  I am really exited about this project…I think it offers a brand new style of living in Indianapolis.  If the sales trailer is any indication about how they are building this project, it seems that no expense has been spared.

The community is modeled after South Carolina architecture and offers a “resort style” living in Indianapolis.  Renaissance Bay offers the convenience of being located just south of the Keystone Mall and near I-465, but also offers Indianapolis residents the unique opportunity to have waterfront living and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city while...

Indianapolis Real Estate = Good Buy by Mike Taylor

A former client of mine, thanks Steve, sent me this article about the Indianapolis real estate market being one of the best places for savvy investors to buy houses right now.  Amid the doom and gloom you hear on the nightly news about the “mortgage meltdown” and the real estate bubble bursting, us Hoosiers are sitting pretty good according to CNN and Moody’s.  According to them, we rank number 2 as the best places to pick up a good deal on a house.

They are projecting an increase in the median sales price of 6.3%; and that is metro Indianapolis.  I think we will see a greater increase than that in some of the more affluent and desirable areas such as Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, Westfield, Zionsville and Geist.

I am telling...

Energy Fact by Mike Taylor

Did you know that it takes 714 pounds of coal to keep a simple 100 watt light bulb lit for one year?  Do you ever leave a room or go to work with a light bulb on?  I do too.  Think about this…there are approximately 320,000 Indianapolis homes (not counting Carmel, Fishers, Avon, Greenwood, etc.); if we could each save just half of this we would save 114,240,000 pounds of coal.  We would also not put: 800,000 pounds of sulfur dioxide, 816,000 of nitrogen oxides, and 296,320,000 pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Don’t get me wrong, you will not see me on some Greenpeace boat chasing down an oil tanker anytime soon, but I do think it is our obligation to do our part.  So next time you notice that light on, think about...

Westfield is Growing Up by Mike Taylor

Chicago Based Pine Tree Commercial Realty is proposing a new 430,000 square feet, $83 million high end retail center in Westfield.  The proposed project would be located on US 31 and 169th streets.  I am telling you this is a great sign for Westfield Real Estate and another indication that Westfield is stepping out of Carmel’s shadow and emerging as yet another powerhouse in Hamilton County.  Nothing of this magnitude has ever been proposed for the city of Westfield.

Honestly, it seems questionable weather or not this is really a viable option or not with so much other high end shopping currently nearby or already in the works.  That is not the point though:  I think the real story here is that someone wants to invest $83 million...

New Project for Website by Mike Taylor

Beazer Homes Eagles NestI have started a MAJOR project for the website…I am setting out to make my website the best place for all Indianapolis new homes information.  What I am doing is visting or re-visiting every builder and every subdivision in the Indianapolis area.  I am talking to the sales people to get an idea about the neighborhood, taking pictures, and gathering all the relevant facts.  Here are few examples of what I have done so far:

Beazer Homes Eagles NestBeazer Homes Indianapolis Providence Kitchen

Beazer Homes Walker Farms

Pulte Homes Cobblestone Lakes

Ryland Homes Eagles Nest

This is a big project and will take some time but this will become the best place to compare all the Indianapolis builders.  If you have any suggestions let me know and I will try to incorporate it...

Best Dentist in Indianapolis by Mike Taylor

Ok, admittedly this has nothing to do with Indianapolis real estate, Carmel real estate, Fishers real estate or another real estate, but I feel the need to share.  I just went to the dentist for the first time in…ahem…let’s just call it a while.  A friend of my wife’s recommended a place called the dental spa.  I cannot say enough good things about this place.  You walk in and you really feel like you are in spa; relaxing music, waterfalls, calming colors, and the nicest people ever.

When you are getting your teeth cleaned by the friendly folks, they give you a headset and have flat screen TVs mounted on the ceiling so you watch whatever you want.  They also offer paraffin wax if you would like to dip your hands in while the cleaning...
