ISTEP Results 2007 by Mike Taylor

We all know how important schools are to the real estate market and nowadays how well they perform on their standardized tests.  Well, the ISTEP results are in for 2007 and if you want to check out how your schools did, the Indianapolis Star has a very cool and useful tool on its website that allows you to check the ISTEP scores by county, corporation, or school name.

It is no coincidence that some the area’s most desirable property: Carmel real estate Fishers real estate, etc. have great schools and great scores year after year.  A good school system is a major factor when considering your next home purchase, even if you don’t have kids.

New Tech Park in Pike Possible by Mike Taylor

Intech Park on the city’s northwest side could get bigger if a deal with Browning Investments goes through.  Although it would technically not be part of Intech Park, the 15 acres of land lies adjacent to the current office development.  If the deal were to be successful, the new park would contain 125,000 square feet of office space in two one-story buildings.  The first building could be under construction as soon as next summer.

Intech Park is already the largest office development in the state of Indiana and this addition to the area makes it more desirable for tech related business to call it home.  Pike Township real estate stands to benefit the most with more jobs and an increase in the tax base.  Browning Investments hopes...

New IDX Coming Soon by Mike Taylor

I am very pleased to let everyone know that I will soon have the best IDX for searching the MLS in Indianapolis.  Every other Indianapolis real estate agent’s site that I have seen has an off the shelf IDX solution that they paste into their site.  The new one I will have will be very user friendly and fully integrated into my site.  This is being custom built so it will take a few weeks to develop and then some time to get the kinks out, but soon the Indianapolis MLS page will look much different that it does know.  If you can think of something that you might like integrated or have some suggestions about do’s and don’ts, please chime in and let me know.

Public Wants Property Tax Reform by Mike Taylor

Well it turns out I am not the only one in favor of offsetting property taxes with an increase in sales tax.  A recent poll conducted by the Indianapolis Star and WTHR found that 62% of Hoosiers are in favor of the tax increase, 27% oppose it, and 11% are undecided.  Several different proposals to ease the property tax burden are swirling about and they all hinge on an increase in sales tax.

Senator Luke Kenley who headed the committee that studied tax relief options was quoted as saying “My reading of the situation is that the public is willing to pay some of these other taxes under two conditions: The replacement tax must be just that, a replacement, now a source of new revenue, and the public expects governements to look for ways...

Indianapolis Cultural Trail by Mike Taylor

Ball State has put together a website and some videos of the new Indianapolis Cultural Trail, a 7.5 mile trail system through downtown Indianapolis.  The project is scheduled to be completed in 2009.

While the video could use a little work (it is like they tried to pack 10 minutes of material into a one minute video), the website is very cool.
