Plainfield is located in Hendricks County just twelve miles from downtown Indianapolis on US 40. Plainfield became incorporated as town in 1839, but attempts at a town government failed so the incorporation was given up. In June of 1904 Plainfield was incorporated for second time, and this time it stuck.
Plainfield’s town slogan is “A Community of Values” because values such as honesty, truth, integrity, and justice are important to the people of Plainfield. Plainfield is a community that offers it residents a high quality of life. All of Plainfield’s schools are recognized as Four-Star Schools. In addition, Plainfield Parks and Recreation Department offer a wonderful variety of parks for its residents, including the 75 acre Hummel Park and the tropical themed water park Splash Island.
