Greenwood Indiana is located in Johnson County 15 minutes directly south of Indianapolis and just north of Franklin on US-31. The city was founded in 1823 and was called Smocktown, then Greenfield, before the city settled on Greenwood. Greenwood has experienced widespread growth in residential housing in recent years. The city’s main landmark is the Greenwood Park Mall, at County Line Road and US-31, a large shopping center with various clothing, electronics, and department stores to choose from.
