Franklin Township is located in the Southeast corner of Marion County and is one of the nine townships that make up Marion County and Indianapolis. The borders of Franklin Township are County Line Road to the south, Emerson Avenue to the west, Troy Avenue to the north, and Carroll Road to the east.
Franklin Township was established as a township in 1824 and is still home to two of its founding communities Wanamaker and Acton. Franklin Township is among the last areas of Marion County to witness residential and commercial development as a result of the growth and expansion of Indianapolis.
