Decatur Township is one of the nine townships that Marion County is comprised of and is located in the southwest corner of Indianapolis. Decatur Township is the smallest in area and population of the nine townships with a population of approximately 25,000. Until recent years Decatur Township was one of the more rural and least populated townships in Marion County. Much of Decatur’s growth can be attributed to the development on Ameriplex, one of the largest industrial parks in Indiana and the state largest business park. Decatur is also the future home of the new Indianapolis International Airport’s main terminal.
